This, however, did not detour Gupta’s vision to not only help his family but also others in need. His parents where avid believers in education and sought out to keep Gupta in school. The work paid off as Vinod was able to not only finish primary school but attend and graduate from university with a degree in agriculture, soon after however, Vinod would join the Indian Air Force for three years as a flying officer and finally a squadron leader.

Gupta saw the inaccuracy of data that was available, therefore he decided to look through the yellow pages in order to get the best possible data.
An obstacle quickly rose as his company refused to pay for the time, however, they stated that if he could build a list on his own time, the company would happily pay for it. Vinod Gupta wasted no time in seeing the opportunity at hand. Shortly after, Gupta would finish his list sell it to every company that needed it. With this success, Gupta knew that companies were in need of large accurate data, in turn, he founded a Business Research Services, and well the rest is history.
Even with all this success, Vinod Gupta stuck to his promise to aid those less fortunes, Gupta would donate most of his wealth to build schools in India and the United States.
