Roseann Bennett Uses Innovative Therapy

December 5, 2018

Being a productive therapist requires a variety of skills. Roseann Bennett has demonstrated she has many if not all of these skills. Bennett is an experienced marriage and family therapist that has more than a decade of experience working with a variety of people. She is the founder of the Center for Assessment and Treatment in New Jersey, where she has earned valuable experience working with people with various challenges.

Recently Bennett made a decision to add “Canine-Assisted Therapy” to the list of services added at her center. The use of therapy dogs has been around for nearly fifty years. Many of these dogs can help patients relax and ultimately let their guard down. These dogs are trained to address the emotional needs of a person. Some of the breeds of dog that are best designed for this work include Greyhounds, Saint Bernards and Labrador Retrievers.

Roseann Bennett believes that children can earn the biggest benefit of canine therapy. These dogs are often brought into schools to work with children with high anxiety. An act as simple as reading out loud can often bring anxiety to young children, especially for struggling readers. Having a therapy dog can help to ease this anxiety and help students to get past their anxiety. See This Page for additional information.

Depression is another problem that therapy dogs can help to address. Pets seem to quickly boost mood especially when there is some kind of physical contact. Also loneliness, especially in elderly people, can be addressed through the use of therapy dogs.

Roseann Bennett has proven she is willing to look for innovative methods to treat her patients. As a result her Center for Assessment and Treatment continues to treat thousands of people. Her commitment is evident in the fact she and her center receive no funding for its services and never turn clients away based on their ability to pay.
