After receiving his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and Economics from the University of Washington, Hussain Sajwani began working as a contracts manager at GASCO, which is less critical than but related to the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company. Remarkably, in 1982, he started his own catering business which started small but now manages over 200 projects and serves 150,000 meals a day in markets serving the Middle East, The CIS, and Africa. The business serves construction campsites, scholarly institutes, army quarters, inland and marine locations as well as five-star hotels. Sajwani is the pioneer for property market development in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). For him and his career, the mid-90s was a pivotal moment; he built numerous hotels for people coming to Dubai for trade and business ventures which catapulted his work ethic in the industry. In 2002, he realized the likelihood of regular business in the future and established his own company, DAMAC Properties Dubai Co. which is one of the most prominent in the Middle East today.
